Mr. Hollande

With a father on the far right and a social-worker mother, Mr. Hollande grew up on the edge of the 1968 protests that nearly overthrew the French government. They shocked him, but also politicized him, he said in a recent interview, making him understand that change was possible even in the France of Charles de Gaulle.

   Avec un père sur l'extrême-droite et une mère d'assistant social, M. Hollande a grandi au bord des protestations 1968 qui ont presque renversé le gouvernement français. Ils l'ont choqué, mais l'ont aussi politisé, il a dit dans un entretien(interview) récent, le faisant comprendre que le changement(la monnaie) était possible même en France de Charles de Gaulle.
